In the next couple of weeks I’m seeing a little of time I can use to write, but at this time I’m not getting my hopes up.

Smokin Aces (2007)

In January I was able to still watch a bunch of movies, some I’ve been watching for years because I found something special it them. One of my favorite movies from last month 2006 Alpha Dog. Everybody was in love with Justin’s acting in this movie, which was good but Ben Foster acting was disturbingly awesome. Very upset he didn’t win or even be nominated for this role.

Who is Marcellus Miller?

I’m a guy that’s been in love with fiction since I was a young boy, but what’s odd is I wasn’t a fan of reading as a child, I wasn’t even a fan of school. I remember sneaking out of school to catch the latest movies at the nearest theater. I grew up admiring anime, Manga, comics, and television. Spending most of my days as a child and then as a teenager admiring fiction gave me the dream of being a writer, but being rebellious caused me to never gain the skills.

The writing dream is still in my heart. Now I put the time and effort in gaining skills on becoming a great writer. So if you look over my blog and see grammar errors just know I’m a work in progress, revision is a writer’s most hated task.

Sometime last year a writer told me to not waist time picking up “how to” books on writing, their purpose is well but reading great literature and practice will help you more than those books ever will. Last year I believe I watched nearly fifty new movies and read ten books, great stats based off my adolescence, but my idols absorb hundreds of books and movies making me feel behind. The plan for 2012 is to watch 144 movies, read 48 books, and write two books. My plan with this blog is the showcase storytelling art based on countless websites, even though these sites are nothing but opinions so far it’s opening my eyes to some true works of art.

I’m also in school majoring in Business for some damn reason. I don’t think what I’m learning in business is really going to play a factor in my career goals, but I’ve started it, might as well finish. I’m gaining more skills and knowledge in writing but my career goal is to become a university professor in Seattle, which I forgot to mention this is where I’m living.

I have a team of writers working on the site and unfortunately we have a lot of drafts to finish revising on the great examples of storytelling, so be patient. Feel free to send us your favorite stories or whatever else you feel tell a great story. Overtime we plan to do more to the website so understand right now we have no clue on what we’re doing, we have a foggy vision, In time we plan to make it clear.

“I don’t even know how long she’s been gone. It’s...

“I don’t even know how long she’s been gone. It’s like I’ve woken up in bed and she’s not here… because she’s gone to the bathroom or something, but somehow I just know that she’s never gonna come back to bed. If I could just reach over and touch her side of the bed… I’ll know that it was cold, but I can’t.

I know I can’t have her back, but I don’t want to wake up every morning thinking she’s still here. I lie here, not knowing… how long I’ve been alone. So how… how can I heal, how am I suppose to heal if I can’t feel time?”

Poetic words from one of my favorite scenes in Christopher Nolan’s “Memento”, but it’s hard to tell the motive for Leonard and Natalie in bed together, it’s hard to understand almost anything in this movie. I understand the plot; Leonard is trying to get revenge for the murder of his wife while suffering a memory condition which doesn’t allow him to collect new thoughts. But Memento is one of them great stories that leave you questioning the ending, that’s what makes it so good. Did Leonard kill his wife? Did Teddy take certain papers out Leonard’s police report? Does Natalie know Jimmy is dead? If she’s Jimmy’s girlfriend why is she playing with Leonard? If Leonard did kill his wife how did he get away with it?

After watching the movie five times, reading five analysis, reading Jonathan Nolan’s short story, and reading the script a couple of times I’ve come to make my own analysis. Before I start let me tell you I suffer from being too much of a realist, so I look at real aspects instead of understanding that this is a story. Involving real life aspects to mind bending stories may will defeat the meaning of the story, but enjoy and let me know if you agree.

The Sammy Jenkins story is true. Sammy’s wife was able to prove he wasn’t faking his condition by allowing Sammy to repeatedly give her insulin shots, Sammy then suffers in a crazy home. Ironically Leonard suffers the same condition after suffering a blow to the head while trying to save his wife. Teddy was working on the Leonard case at the time, after noticing how bad Leonard condition was he came up with the plan to take advantage of Leonard condition. Teddy then hides or ever alters the police report so Leonard could never find out the truth.

The main story, from Leonard killing Jimmy to Leonard killing Teddy, covers three and a half to four days. Teddy and Leonard are a team tracking down whoever Teddy can forces Leonard to believe is the killer of his wife, all Leonard know is his murderer initials are J.G. Teddy has Leonard check into a hotel in a new area which Teddy has a lead on a Drug dealer that has $12,000 Teddy wants. Teddy keeps calling Leonard’s hotel room phone but Teddy doesn’t answer cause of trust issues. Teddy gets Leonard to answer the phone by slipping letters under his hotel room door, cause of Leonard’s condition he doesn’t notice its Teddy, cause of his condition he doesn’t even know who Teddy is. Teddy tells Leonard he’s a cop and forces him to believe this J.G is the murderer he’s looking for. Teddy arranges a meet up between Jimmy and Leonard so Leonard can get his revenge and Teddy will get the money from the trunk of Jimmy’s car. Jimmy will just believe the meet up is a drug deal.

The reasons why I don’t believe the story that Teddy tries to get Leonard and the audience to believe is;

1. If Leonard accidently kills his wife how does he escape from the crazy home? Wouldn’t doctors feel he’s a danger to society?

2. Leonard would’ve been able to remember that his wife was a diabetic, unless it happens after the rape, which Leonard thought was his wife murder. If that’s the case and she idiotically gives Leonard the responsibility of giving her insulin shots Leonard wil still receive a penalty.

3. If the Sammy Jenkins story is a fake why doesn’t Leonard remember this? The Sammy Jenkins story could not have been introduced to him after the incident because he wouldn’t be able to remember it.

4. If Leonard is covering up himself for being the one that killed his wife why is he so passionate about getting vengeance?

The Nolan brothers have no intentions on putting the truth out there, why would they? The mystery keeps the fans alive, even if the only people who heard of Memento is either the biggest movie watchers or new comers to Christopher Nolan’s work that want to know what was he doing before Batman and Inception.

Memento didn’t get the credit it deserved. Nobody promoted it and plus at the time of it’s release Pearl Harbor was being hyped, which ended up being a terrible movie that made big money. Once again I beg you to make sometime for this diamond under the rough, because honestly it’s difficult to entertain me, but this story is one of the stories that made me fascinated with storytelling.

There’s a lot of analysis on Christopher Nolans “Inception”,...

There’s a lot of analysis on Christopher Nolans “Inception”, just another one of his works that leave many questions and not so many answers. I must say I’m having a great time reading them and writing my own, but I really wrote this blog to showcase Leonardo DiCaprio acting. The guy is a beast! Since “The Departed” I’ve been chasing every movie with his name on it and saying I always come away amazed is an understatement. Inception may not be his best showcase of acting, which is nothing less than an A performance, but I don’t think no other elite Hollywood actor could’ve pulled Cobb off. If you do please let me know who could’ve done better?

For this month I’m going to have fun showing off some off DiCaprio’s greatest work. A very easy task since he’s voted on as one of the best in the business.

But before I go let me express how much I want to see Nolan and DiCaprio work together again, so far we’ve seen Nolan call up Michael Cain and Christian Bale numerous times. Even if it’s not an “Inception” Sequel I pray he give DiCaprio another job in another movie.

The Twilight Zone’s “The Eye of the Beholder” was originally...

The Twilight Zone’s “The Eye of the Beholder” was originally aired November 16, 1960. Later because of Legal Issues the episode title was later changed to “The Private World of Darkness”. Even with the terrible name change it doesn’t take away one of the most memorable moments in TV history. Nothing builds up anticipation better than this, no one saw this ending coming. Even with this episode being over 50 years old my intentions are not to play spoiler. I searched for ways to watch the episode for free but had no luck. Netflix members are in luck with the whole 5 seasons, so when you find the time checkout this classic episode to arguably the greatest TV series of all time.

In this episode (season 2, episode 6) the world is introduced to hideously ugly Janet Tyler, a woman who just wants to be loved and accepted. The woman is a real nut case, any the faculty has reached the legal limit of trying to help her. Things are so bad for Janet that she wishes to be put down just for being too ugly, what world is this to allow someone this option. The nurses and doctor show sympathy for her condition, but believe theirs no way for her to get better. We knew we were going to see this woman face, the story and directing was done so well you can’t help but to fear the worse. But remember, this is The Twilight Zone, where every episode contains a twist that makes you question life. Why has this test failed so many times? Why are we not able to see anyone faces? You learn that if the injection doesn’t take this time she will be shipped to live in a community of ugly people. She doesn’t like the sound of this, who would? Filled with anger and frustration Janet questions who is the state to judge who is beautiful, a great scene that made me question racism in our world today. One of the most confusing moments is when we see Janet’s doctor stressing in darkness. He questions his next actions to fix Janet face, stating that she holds a human face. Once the truth was out that this is a world that forces conformity I was left questioning the state of acceptance in our world today. Of course this world is rotten but in the background, while Janet is doing a pathetic job of getting away, listen to the speech from the leader of this new world;

“I say to you now…I say to you now that there is no such thing as a permissive society, because such a society cannot exist! They will scream at you and rant and rave and conjure up some dead and decadent picture of an ancient time when they said that all men are created equal! But to them equality was an equality of opportunity, an equality of status, an equality of aspiration! And then, in what must surely be the pinnacle of insanity, the absolute in inconsistency, they would have had us believe that this equality did not apply to form, to creed. They permitted a polyglot, accident-bred, mongrel-like mass of diversification to blanket the earth, to infiltrate and weaken! Well, we know now that there must be a single purpose! A single norm! A single approach! A single entity of peoples! A single virtue! A single morality! A single frame of reference! A single philosophy of government! We cannot permit… we must not permit the encroaching sentimentality of a past age to weaken our resolve. We must cut out all that is different like a cancerous growth! It is essential in this society that we not only have a norm, but that we conform to that norm. Differences weaken us. Variations destroy us. An incredible permissiveness to deviation from this norm is what has ended nations and brought them to their knees. Conformity we must worship and hold sacred. Conformity is the key to survival.”

What he speaks makes sense, differences do weaken us.

I’m happy this was introduced to me as an adult, viewing this as an innocent child would’ve scarred me for life. Even today this episode hits me emotionally because it makes you fear of a world that forces conformity, but then I realize this is not far from the world we live in today. If we color outside of the lines and don’t dress to the world acceptance standards we’re labeled “different”. Everyone is different, we’re taught this as children to make us believe that being different is okay, but it’s not. Today we have magazines and websites that tell us who’s hot and who’s not. Sometimes the results are based off a special group of writers, sometimes the results are based off votes from subscribers, but who are these people to judge what beauty is? I’m not blind to the world we live in, the ones with more favorable physical features will go further than the not so eye candy, it’s only getting worse by the day, but what do you want to teach your children? I feel sorry for the insecure that either blog or follow model sites, the sites only feed followers with ignorance; either you look like this or you ain’t it. I feel even worse for the innocent who believe based off their skills alone they’re able break any boundary, we live in a world that’s quick to judge, and racism will never die.

So much more I wish to say about this story and our world, but my followers have lives to live, and great stories to find. Just make some time to check out this work of art. Open your mind up, you may learn something about yourself.

Gamers are having a great time with Uncharted 3: Drakes...

Gamers are having a great time with Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception, I’m enjoying the story even more than Skyrim. There are not enough games out today that hold a great story you’ll never forget. I’ll be glued if this was a movie or even a TV series. The Uncharted series has already gone gold with the first two, so there are no signs of letting the fans down. (Why am I acting like this game is brand new?)

Before I get even more redundant let me conclude my love for the series by sayings the developers has set the bar on video-game storytelling.

If you have’t played the series check out the scene above (not the picture). There are better scenes in the game but I’m trying not to spoil the story, but scenes like this make me forget I’m playing a game. This is the best case of chemistry between video game characters I have ever seen. With today graphic engines it’s easy to make characters with facial expressions that show their emotions, but the Uncharted series has done this for almost five years consistently. Even the voice acting is superb to go along with a story I never want to end.

Unfortunately what else can they do with to Nathan that we haven’t seen before. I know Golden Abyss is out and the movie is in the early stage of development but what’s next for Drake? The developers have stated that there’s tons of Drake Stories out there, so don’t expect the story to be coming to an end. I’m afraid of the story getting milked to Resident Evil status. At first we started seeing the RE series become redundant, now the series seems lost. I’ll always be a RE fan just like I’ll always be a Uncharted fan, but lets pray Uncharted doesn’t follow that path.

I’m excited to break down the Drake’s story so far but let me get down with Golden Abyss first. Expect it sometime this summer to hopefully go along with Uncharted 4 announcement.

Great fan made trailer to another of my favorite movies. Conformity is the key to survival.

Website Update 12-13

The new site is ahead of schedule but will still be up and running January 4th around noon pacific time. As men today we apologize, we’re not...

Ladies,

As men today we apologize, we’re not fully prepared to love you. We’ll work hard to convince that through our experiences with other women we already know how to love you. Honestly we’re just faking it until we make it, because every woman is not the same. This leads to fights early because we act out of line when in the beginning we really don’t know where the line is. Even with all the long talks of the rules to follow, the first couple of fights are inevitable, because at this time we just don’t know any better. So don’t be so hard on us, we know you’re upset. Just breathe, let us think and find the words to make things right.

In the end instead of coming with just words hopefully we return with the truth; we really don’t know how to love you, but we’re trying. Teach us how to love you and there won’t be a next time, because now we know.

Don’t give up on us, because just as much as you’re scared as men we’re scared too. If he’s not able to break down and express the fear of losing you, that’s when you really have a problem.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?

My Daughter and great friends.

New post Tomorrow... for real this time

Today the team and I got together and had a amazing meet, great ideas coming from from every direction. Heavy D handled TMZ well even if their intentions may were to expose a flaw from him. Rest in peace to a rare rapper with class and was a great example for African america men.
